Plastic bottles often find themselves relegated to landfills or drifting aimlessly in our oceans and streets. But, with just a bit of initiative, these bottles can be transformed and granted a second chance at usefulness. Recycling plastic bottles not only prevents waste and preserves vital resources but also serves as a potent weapon against carbon emissions and climate change concerns. Here’s some tips on the proper techniques for recycling Uncle Matt’s Organic plastic bottles, packaging, and direct-to-consumer packaging, ensuring every bit is put to good use.

Check for the recycling symbol. Before tossing a plastic bottle into the trash, make sure to check for the recycling symbol and number to tell you how/where to recycle. All of our bottles are PET #1.

Rinse the bottle. Before recycling a plastic bottle, rinse it out with water to remove any leftover liquid. This will help prevent contamination of other recyclable materials and ensure that the bottle can be properly recycled.

Flatten the bottle. To save space and make transportation more efficient, consider flattening the plastic bottle before recycling it; just remember to remove the cap first! This will help to maximize the amount of recyclable material that can be collected and processed.

Recycle locally. Research your local recycling guidelines to ensure that you are recycling your plastic bottles correctly. Some areas have specific rules for recycling plastic bottles, such as separating them by color or type. Make sure to follow these guidelines to ensure that your bottles are properly recycled.

Reuse or upcycle. Instead of simply recycling your plastic bottles, consider finding creative ways to reuse or upcycle them. Plastic bottles can be transformed into a variety of useful items, such as planters, bird feeders, or storage containers. Get creative and find new ways to repurpose your plastic bottles before recycling them.

By following these simple tips, you can help to reduce waste and protect the environment by properly recycling your plastic bottles. Every small effort counts towards a cleaner and greener planet, so do your part and recycle your plastic bottles.

At Uncle Matt’s Organic, we believe it’s important to recycle. Our bottles are PET #1, not 3, 6, or 7. PET #1 is the most recyclable form of plastic and the safest for food and juices. It also does not contain the harmful and dangerous chemical called Bisphenol A (BPA), like some other plastics. We’re proud to be BPA free.
