Our Ingredients: The “Why” behind our Better-For-You Choices

At Uncle Matt’s Organic, we’re proud to say we are a truly clean-label, better-for-you beverage company with the USDA organic seal to back it up! Every ingredient in our delicious beverages has been carefully selected with its specific benefits in mind. However, we often do get asked: “Why did you choose this ingredient?” or “I’ve never heard of this, what is it?”

As a part of our pledge to be fully transparent with our customers, we’re here to share the “why” when it comes to some of the ingredients you’ll find on our nutrition labels.

 

Organic Acerola:

Some might call this a superfruit – and it is! The acerola cherry is the source, which is loaded with Vitamin C. Did you know? Vitamin C has clinical studies demonstrating that this powerful ingredient supports a healthy immune system, especially when combined with other vitamins and antioxidants.

Organic Ginger Juice:

Not only does the spicy flavor of ginger complement the pineapple and turmeric found in our Ultimate Defense line of products, but it also has many health benefits, including supporting a healthy blood pressure and providing anti-inflammatory support. Ginger juice is known to be a great source of antioxidants called gingerols!

Organic Whole Root Turmeric:

This free radical fighting root is touted as an anti-inflammatory powerhouse due mainly to its curcumin content. Moreover, turmeric has been utilized for thousands of years in Eastern Medicine for its health benefits. We use whole root turmeric because studies have shown that this natural form of turmeric can be better absorbed by the body.

Organic Black Pepper:

This household spice was added to our Ultimate Defense line of beverages to assist in the absorption of our whole root turmeric and its secret antioxidant weapon, curcumin. Did you also know that black pepper contains piperine, which has anti-inflammatory benefits?

Veg D3®:

Uncle Matt’s Organic beverages are actually some of the first drinks in market to use VegD3®. We chose VegD3® because it is a vegan, kosher and an organic D3 supplement that comes from algae. Most Vitamin D3 usually comes from animal sources, but Veg D3® is unique, so whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan, or prefer a non-animal supplement, we’ve got you covered.

Organic Stevia (Reb-M):

Stevia is a natural sweetener that doesn’t add sugar to juices. We use Reb-M Stevia which comes from the stevia plant’s leaves. It’s less bitter and more palatable than traditional stevia. If you’re diabetic or watching your sugar intake, we created these beverages with you in mind.

Zinc Gluconate:

A fancy name for the mineral zinc in its supplement form. This mineral is great for immunity support and is even more effective when paired with Vitamin C. Zinc is also known to reduce inflammation and some cold symptoms.

Bacillus Coagulans SNZ 1969:

These are the live probiotics you’ll find in several of our beverages. They’ve been studied for their efficacy in promoting a healthy gut including digestion and regularity. Other efficacy studies show support for oral health and helping reduce cavity-causing bacteria.

Organic PreticX Xylooligosaccharide Prebiotic:

This is the prebiotic found in our Matt50 beverage that helps support intestinal health including the growth of healthy gut bacteria. This prebiotic also helps maintain a healthy digestive system and improve regularity.

Organic Coffeeberry Brand Coffee Fruit Extract:

Yes, you read that right. Coffeeberry is a plant! One of the benefits of the coffeeberry plant is promotion of healthy skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines. This coffeeberry extract also provides the natural clean caffeine inside our Ultimate Energy Shot.

Citric Acid:

This is what naturally gives oranges, lemons, grapefruit and other citrus fruits that acidic kick. Because Matt50 is a lighter beverage, we added a little extra citric acid to maintain the orange juice experience without adding extra calories.

Ascorbic acid:

This is another word for good ‘ole Vitamin C! It’s no surprise we use ascorbic acid in our beverages as this ingredient is naturally found in citrus fruits. We use the natural form of ascorbic acid from our citrus to provide recommended daily values of Vitamin C in our beverages.
